IS 302 Part 1: General Requirements for All Appliances

Sets baseline safety requirements covering: electrical insulation, surface temperature limits, mechanical strength, marking requirements, abnormal operation, and radiation.

IS 302 Part 2: Product-Specific Modifications

Each Part 2 section corresponds to a specific appliance category and modifies/supplements Part 1. When Part 2 says "replace Clause X," the Part 2 requirement takes precedence. Where Part 2 is silent, Part 1 applies fully.
