Getting the ISI mark is not the end — it is the beginning of annual compliance obligations. Here is what IS 302 Part 1 ISI mark licence holders must do each year.

Annual Renewal

  • Submit renewal application through BIS portal (Manakonline) before expiry
  • Pay renewal fee
  • BIS confirms licence extension

Annual Factory Surveillance Visit

BIS officers visit your factory annually. They check manufacturing process against registered documentation, review quality control records, verify test equipment calibration, and may take production samples for testing. BIS officer travel costs are charged to you.

Self-Compliance Verification Report (SCVR)

IS 302 Part 1 holders must periodically submit SCVRs — internal quality audit documentation confirming ongoing compliance. Submit through BIS portal at specified intervals.

Market Surveillance

BIS periodically purchases your products from open market and tests them — any time, without notice. If they fail, you receive a show cause notice requiring response within the specified timeline.

Notify BIS of Any Changes

Notify BIS immediately (through portal) if you change:

  • Safety-critical components (heating elements, thermostats, switches)
  • Manufacturing process
  • Factory location or ownership

Undisclosed changes discovered during surveillance risk licence suspension or cancellation.
